An Official Dungeons & Dragons Stage Production Is Heading To New York

Dungeons & Dragons is far more successful than I ever thought it would be when I was a small child, awkwardly rolling dice and making up stories with my friends. But alongside the newfound mass popularity comes a weird side, and today, that strange comes in the form of a live stage show based on the roleplaying game.

Dubbed The Twenty-Sided Tavern, the show is basically what you’d get if you played Dungeons & Dragons while standing and moving around, then throw in some improvised comedy, some cosplay and larping, and a whole lot of audience participation.

It will debut in New York City at Stage 42 this May. From what we know, the audience will be able to interact with the shows by voting on outcomes using a unique browser-based app, and they will even be allowed on-stage to participate in side quests and mini-games.

If you’re reading all this and thinking there is no way that any of this is official, I’m here to tell you that it very much is. Curious Hedgehog is running the Twenty-Sided Tavern, and it’s made in direct partnership with stage production group Showpath Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast – Dungeons & Dragons’ very own daddy.
