Get Ready for Some Synchronized Swimming – Sea of Stars Teases Three-Player Co-op

Initially released back in 2023, Sea of Stars managed to capture its audience by providing a nostalgic, retro feel with modern mechanics and gameplay.

As Arielle put it in her review of the game. “The game is essentially nostalgia come to life.”

Alongside the DLC, Throes of the Watchmaker, which Sabotage Studios is currently working on, they also dropped a very short, almost nothing-like teaser of something they may be toying with for the base game.

On the Sea of Stars X account, the video was posted with the caption: “3 player couch Co-Op… Should we do it?”

In the video, you can see each character moving individually, giving the impression that a different player controls them. This allows for a different traversal style to the base game and could make for some interesting combat mechanics, too.

“Staying true to the game’s core turn-based roots, each player will engage in traversal and combat with a new ‘co-op timed hits’ mechanic as they embark with friends on Sea of Stars’ grand adventure,” says Sabotage Studios.

While not much else has been said about the new co-op mode or Single Player + as they call it, we can expect more news of the mode to surface soon.

Arielle says she’d definitely play the game again when the new mode launches. We’d just need to find her two friends somehow.
