Those of you who have played through the era of indie game rogue-lites will certainly know Darkest Dungeon and its dark, comic-like art style. Everyone else will surely know Pokemon. Now imagine a new game that combines these two games into one dark fantasy RPG.
Voidsayer is an indie game that’s run a successful Kickstarter campaign, amassing over three times its initial goal. Promising a linear, unobtrusive story with minimal dialogue set to allow the player to enjoy the gameplay rather than be “bogged down.”
You start the game off in the traditional Pokemon style, where you pick on of three starter monsters and then take on each procedurally generated level, amassing experience for your monster and helping your settlement grow, giving you in-game bonuses depending on what structures you have built in your settlement.

The game features a similar type of effectiveness structure to Pokemon, with Fire beating Flora, which beats Ground, which bests Electricity, which betters Water, which in turn beats Fire. However, three special types have their own circle, with Jhinn beating Medium beating Ghost, which then beats Jhinn.
The game currently has no release date on Steam, and nothing was mentioned in their Kickstarter campaign, yet since they only just completed the campaign, it’s safe to assume that the earliest we can expect the game to release in some playable form will be near the middle of 2025.
If this game piques your interest, be sure to Wishlist it to keep updated on any future Early Access or version 1.0 release dates.
