Your Esports Weekly Recap

For League fans, it’s been one action-packed week, with Worlds kicking off with the highest-watched play-in match in history, as T1 faced iG.

The Blast Slam IV is also well underway for fans of Dota 2, with $1,000,000 in cash money on the line.

For more MOBA action, and some heated battles in the rest of the esports world, read on for this weeks Esports Weekly Recap.

League of Legends:

As mentioned, the first match of Worlds took place on the 14th, which netted the highest amount of viewers for a play-in match ever.

Current Worlds Title Holders, T1, faced off against iG, a Chinese favourite. Both teams needing to win the BO5 match to carry on their journey into Worlds.

Luckily for the champs, they had a little bit more in the tank and secured a 3-1 victory over iG, marching forward into the Swiss Stage.

The Swiss Stage pits teams against each other, needing three wins overall to advance into the knockout bracket. Every match is a best of 1, meaning you’ve got to be in it to win it, or you’ll slowly move down the roster.

Lose three games, and you’re out.

With the first round of the Swiss Stage set to end this weekend, there are tons of League games for fans to catch up on, as we prep for round two taking place next week.

Dota:

When we last spoke, the FISSURE Universe: Episode 7 tournament was well underway, with Team Yandex already being knocked out of the bracket stages.

Since then, we’ve seen the tournament come to a close, with Heroic marching their way through the winners’ bracket and eventually securing a $125,000 win over MOUZ.

MOUZ, who was knocked into the lower bracket quite early on by Team Liquid, managed to make their way to the finals by winning every game they played, even against Team Liquid again, but eventually fell short to Heroic in a 1-3 loss.

We also saw the start of the Blast Slam IV, which holds a $1,000,000 prize pool for 12 teams to fight over.

The group stage wraps up tomorrow, but the current standings are as follows:

Position Team Score
1 Team Falcons 6-1
1 Tundra Esports 6-1
3 Aurora Gaming 4-3
3 Heroic 4-3
3 Natus Vincere 4-3
3 Team Spirit 4-3
7 Betboom Team 3-4
7 MOUZ 3-4
7 Team Aureus 3-4
10 Execration 2-5
10 Team Liquid 2-5
12 Yakult Brothers 1-6

Counter Strike:

Season 22 of the ESL Pro League wrapped up last weekend, with the winning team netting a neat $100,000.

Team Falcons had already knocked 3DMax out of the cup when we last spoke, and Team Falcons rode that victory all the way to the finals against Team Vitality.

Unfortunately, it was Team Vitality who outshone the Falcons, securing the win 3-0, giving second place to Team Falcons, and third to MOUZ.

Valorant:

With the Valorant Champions Tour hitting its final match last week, there are only a few lower-tier tournaments taking place for the rest of the year.

Perhaps a well-earned break for the Valorant teams around the world.

Fortnite:

We still wait for those Major Tier Fortnite Cups kicking off near the end of October, which gives us more than enough time to head on over to www.mettlestate.com to try our own luck at a few casual cups.

Apex Legends:

If you’re hot for some Apex Legends, you should keep your eyes on the Last Chance Qualifiers for the ALGS World Cup in 2026, kicking off this weekend.

EA FC/Rocket League:

Internationally, things are looking quiet on both the EA FC and Rocket League fields; however, RSC_SSA hosts weekly local Rocket League Tournaments that you can check out over on their Twitch channel.

Street Fighter:

The Capcom Pro Tour 2025 World Warrior Cup will be holding a few regional finals this weekend, as players attempt to secure their spot for the main final in November.

However, the EVO Championship Series France took place last weekend, where 70 combatants fought it out for $10,000.

After some heated battles, South Korea’s Leshar walked away with the win.

While most of the esports world was a little quiet, League is in the midst of the biggest tournament of the year, with multiple games taking place every day.

If you have some time this weekend, make sure you fill it with one of the many exciting games being live streamed, straight to your favourite streaming platform.
