Stamping Their Claim on Gamers, Check Out Xiaomi’s Gaming Monitors

Xiaomi has been a brand synonymous with smart household appliances that are not only affordable but also offer a premium experience, keeping customers coming back for more and staying within the ecosystem. Then, last year, they started showing off a few of their gaming peripherals, hinting that they wanted to be more involved in the gaming scene, and not just the work-from-home, house-husbands of the 2020s.

We got to play around with a few things, but the most notable was the range of gaming-centric monitors Xiaomi was pushing. Sticking to their winning strategy, these gaming monitors proved to be quality products that didn’t hurt your average gamer’s wallet, leaving more than enough cash to spend on Steam games or Comic Con tickets.

Both the Xiaomi G27i and the G24i offers an easy win for gamers looking to upgrade, providing them with high refresh-rate, gaming-focused full HD panels that both looked and acted the part.

Now, Xiaomi is releasing its 2026 range of these monitors, proving that it’s not just here to play in the local gaming scene.

Xiaomi is here to play seriously.

If you’re hesitant about upgrading because everything is just so expensive these days, or you’re an everyday gamer whose monitor no longer likes to game every day anymore, then you should check out Xiaomi G27i 27-inch Full HD 1080p IPS Gaming Monitor.

Personally, full-HD gaming on a 24-inch panel is precisely where I like to game. I may be an old-school gamer, but if there’s one thing the gamers of old got right, it was the perfect screen size and resolution for high-stakes competitive gaming. I like to sweat a little when it comes to my games, so I prefer this monitor size.

The Xiaomi G24i features some of the best of the older generation monitors, but with a good few tweaks and upgrades, too. We still get that Full-HD IPS panel for good colour accuracy and sweet viewing angles. We still get that 1ms GtG response time. And we still get that TÜV stamp of approval on low blue light emissions.

What’s new is that Xiaomi has bumped up the refresh rate to a stunning 200Hz, which is a decent improvement over last year’s 180Hz, and they’ve managed to squeeze out every single percent when it comes to sRGB accuracy. Yes, I’m saying this monitor scores 100% on the sRGB wide colour gamut. On top of that, Xiaomi has also given the overall design a once-over, giving the monitor a sleek and smooth visual overhaul. We still get that flat, heavy base, keeping the monitor out of the way on your desk, but the stand itself is thicker and sturdier, and it adds a hint of pizzazz with a silver cover plate that shows off Xiaomi’s G Series branding.

If you’re not a ballie, like me, or you prefer more screen real estate to really sink into that game on screen, then the Xiaomi G27i might be more up your alley.

For most gamers, 27 inches is the sweet spot. The extra size over a 24-inch monitor helps to add a wider field of view for more immersive gameplay, and it’s easier to convince yourself that the bigger size will be better for work purposes, too.

Xiaomi G27i falls perfectly in this spot thanks to its combination of gaming-centred and work-friendly features. Once again, Xiaomi has taken it upon itself to update the Full-HD IPS panel to 200Hz, giving this monitor a massive 35Hz boost over its previous model. They’ve also hit 100% on the sRGB colour gamut with this larger panel, and the 27-inch model has undergone the same visual makeover, giving it that sleek esports look.

Both of the newer-generation models from Xiaomi also support AMD FreeSync, reducing screen tearing, HDR400 for a brighter display, and VESA mounting options for anyone who prefers a monitor arm or wall mount. On the rear, each monitor also has 1x HDMI port, 1x DP port, and 1x 3.5mm audio jack to connect up any speaker systems or headphones, without reaching around to the back of your PC.

The best part of it all, though, is that both monitors have close to their original price points, even with the 2026 updates. Gamers can pick up the Xiaomi G24i 24-inch Full HD 1080p IPS Gaming Monitor for R3,299 (Incredible Connection and HiFi Corp), or they can splurge on the Xiaomi G27i 27-inch Full HD 1080p IPS Gaming Monitor for R3,999 (Incredible Connection and HiFi Corp).

However, if you act fast, both of these monitors are currently on sale. The Xiaomi G24i has an R500 discount (R2,799) over at HiFi Corp, running until the 24th of April, and the Xiaomi G27i has a R600 discount (R3,399) over at Incredible Connection, running until the 30th of April.
