NAGs Friday Steam Wishlist Sale – The One With The Whole Gang

There are two types of people in this world: those who responsibly plan their leave to rest, recharge, and maybe touch grass… and me.

I have leave next week, and instead of becoming a well-balanced human being, I’ve decided to become one with my Steam library.

This also means I’ll be living my best life while Cody continues to work like a responsible adult, blissfully unaware that I’ll be at home, in pyjamas, speed-running snacks and questionable life choices.

So naturally, this week’s NAG’s Friday Steam Wishlist Sale is less of a “wishlist” and more of a “things I will absolutely be playing while ignoring emails.”

Let’s get into it.

Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion
Price: R21 marked down from R105
Get It Here

Why It’s On Arielle’s Wishlist:

You know what’s fun? Committing tax evasion.
You know what’s not fun? Prison. Orange is not my colour, it clashes horribly with my hair.

That’s why we commit crimes in video games – same adrenaline rush, significantly fewer court dates.

What Is Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion:

You’re a cute little turnip with a serious crime problem: dodging taxes like a pro.

Solve pun-filled puzzles, fight wild beasts, and wage war on a corrupt veggie regime, all while paying off your debt to Mayor Onion. Basically, Breaking Veggie but with more gardening tools and fewer car chases.

Half-Life: Alyx
Price: R124 marked down from R499
Get It Here

Why It’s on Arielle’s Wishlist:

This is a PC VR title. Do I have a PC VR set? No. But does that stop a girl from dreaming? Also no.

What Is Half-Life: Alyx:

Half-Life: Alyx is a VR entry in the Half-Life series that takes place between the first and second games, putting you in the role of Alyx Vance as she fights back against the alien Combine.

Built specifically for virtual reality, it focuses on immersive combat, environmental interaction, and puzzle-solving as you explore, scavenge, and take on enemies in a deeply interactive world.

Against the Storm
Price: R89 marked down from R299
Get It Here

Why It’s on Arielle’s Wishlist:

Okay, okay, so maybe I have a tiny city builder addiction.

But in my defence, those little digital citizens would simply cease to exist without me… so really, I’m the hero here. Right? Right.

What Is Against the Storm:

Against the Storm is a dark fantasy city builder where you play as the Queen’s Viceroy, rebuilding civilisation one settlement at a time while deadly storms constantly threaten to wipe everything out.

Instead of focusing on a single city, you manage a network of settlements made up of different species, like humans, beavers, lizards, foxes, and harpies. each with their own needs and strengths. With its roguelite structure, every run carries over progress, meaning each failed expedition still pushes you forward as you adapt to harsh weather, dangerous wilderness, and ever-changing challenges.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Price: R503 marked down from R629
Get It Here

Why It’s On Cody’s Wishlist:

It’s not on my wishlist because I have played the heck out of this game, and I will continue to recommend it every time it goes back on sale, because everyone should play this game.

It’s just that good.

What Is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33:

An award-winning, record-breaking banger, obviously.

But also, it’s a turn-based RPG with an intricate story, unique enemies, and a combat system that’ll keep you on your toes at all times.

It features excellent acting from every character, and wraps it all up in a French Belle Epoque bow that’ll keep you occupied for days.

Dispatch
Price: R200 marked down from R250
Get It Here

Why It’s On Cody’s Wishlist:

Rave reviews and gameplay that gives you the feeling that you’re creating your own superhero comic.

Pretty much as simple as that.

What Is Dispatch:

Dispatch is a superhero game with a twist. You play through an interactive narrative as you try to juggle your team of rag-tag villains-turned-heroes, all while trying to prove that you are a hero yourself.

Get caught up in office politics, face comedic and heartfelt moments, and drive the story with your own decisions.

Battle Brothers
Price: R89 marked down from R399
Get It Here

Why It’s On Cody’s Wishlist:

Yes, six months later, and this one is still on my Wishlist, but guys, my backlog is logging man.

In any case, Battle Brothers sits on my wishlist because I love me a good tactical game, and the character pieces in this one make me giggle a little.

Plus, it’s at an even better price than last time I featured it.

I’m not sure if it’s because I love the tactical gameplay of Chess, or because I love the tactical gameplay of Final Fantasy Tactics, or probably both, but I often find myself adding turn-based tactical style games to my wishlist, and Battle Brothers just happens to be one of them.

What Is Battle Brothers:

Battle Brothers is a turn-based tactical RPG that takes place in a low-power, fantasy world across a procedurally generated campaign. Every decision is yours, from who you hire for your mercenary band to who you end up fighting.

And there you have it, the games that will be consuming my entire existence while I’m on leave next week and the ones that Cody wishes he had time to play.

Will I go outside? Unlikely. Will I remember what day it is? Absolutely not. Will Cody be working while I’m deep into another “just one more hour” spiral? Without a doubt.

If you need me, I’ll be busy saving worlds, building cities, making terrible decisions, and living my best (very indoors) life.

Catch you on the other side of my leave.
