The Penitent One seeks to awaken a long-forgotten power in new Blasphemous DLC, coming in August.
The Stir of Dawn expansion adds new game content (including new storylines, NPCs, bosses, enemies, and areas), an optional “Three Penitence” system, updated voice acting, new executions and counter attacks, a revamped map system, new items, animations, and art reworks, and a whole bunch of balance reworks. That’s quite a lot for nothing.
The Three Penitence system appears to be a way to increase the game’s difficulty by adding weaknesses in exchange for minor perks. You can choose between Unwavering Faith, Bleeding Heart, or True Guilt to tweak your penitence experience for maximum sorrow.
In Blasphemous, you play as The Penitent One, lone survivor of the Brotherhood of the Silent Sorrow, trapped in an endless cycle of death and rebirth, on a mission to end their eternal damnation and save the world with the power of guilt.
Blasphemous: Stir of Dawn will be ready to download on PC (initially on Steam with a GOG release coming soon after), Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on 4 August 2020.
