Hardware season is fully underway and AMD’s latest Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 series “Raphael” processors were released this week. AMD claims their flagship 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X is the fastest CPU in the world, with Intel’s 13th Gen Processors also being announced this week, is there any truth to that statement?
There are four new processors in the AMD Ryzen 7000 line-up. At the entry-level is the $299 6-core Ryzen 5 7600x, with a Max Boost Clock of up to 5.3GHz this chip will handle most of your gaming needs.
Next up is the $399 8-core Ryzen 7 7700x, designed to be a “dominant gaming desktop processor”. For the extra $100 you are getting 8 cores instead of 6, and 16 threads instead of 12 with a base clock of 4.5GHz and a Max Boost clock of up to 5.4GHz.
Lastly in the 7000 series line-up is the Ryzen 9, same as always there are two models, the 7900x, and the claimed “fastest CPU in the world”, the $699 16-core Ryzen 9 7950x. This flagship processor from AMD has a 4.5GHz base clock speed and up to 5.7GHz Max Boost clock speed.
Since the new AMD processors will reach stores before Intel’s, we can’t directly compare the two just yet, and AMD may have the fastest CPU in the world, but this could be short-lived as Intel’s 13th Gen i9-13900K announced this week looks very impressive.
The new Ryzen 7000 CPUs are already available on Takealot with prices for each listed below:
• Ryzen 5 7600X – R6,299
• Ryzen 7 7700X – R8,599
• Ryzen 9 7900X– R11,999
• Ryzen 9 7950X– R14,999
