Over the last few days, Pocket Pair’s Palworld has become a worldwide hit that I doubt anyone could have predicted. Three days after it debuted into early access, Palworld surpassed Elden Ring, and Cyberpunk 2077’s concurrent player count on Steam – not bad for a game that only launched into Early Access on Friday.
Best thought of as Pokemon with guns, Palword has already sold over 4 million copies on Steam alone in the last three days, and according to an official X on X, Palworld currently has the highest concurrent player count of any paid game in the history of Steam.
However, a quick Google search will show that that isn’t completely true. While Palword has the highest concurrent player count of any paid game on Steam currently, the historical record is still held by PUBG, which reached an all-time peak of 3,257,248 players back in 2018 when it was a paid game.

Technicalities aside, though, there is no denying the instant hit that is Palworld. The achievement is even more momentous because the game is still in early access and has only been around for three days.
In fact, Palworld has been so popular that there are still server issues thanks to the high volume of people trying to play the game.
If you want to see why Palword has taken off like it has, you can read the post we created about it pre-launch here. But basically, the developers knew what they were doing.
Almost every trailer dropped for the game depicted the pals, the game’s version of Pokemon, being put to work in factories, slaughtered for their meat, or going to war with machine guns.

We can't believe it!
Thank you SO much to everyone. We really can not thank you enough.

Palwords is not your mom’s version of Pokémon, that’s for sure.
But now I want to know from you: have you tried Palword yet, and if so, what do you think about the game? Let me know in the comments.
