Even though Palworld is in the midst of a lawsuit battle with Nintendo in Japan, Pocket Pair Inc. has decided to go full steam ahead with the mobile adaptation of its hit survival/monster-collecting game.
Announced just yesterday by Krafton, the team behind the always-popular PUBG, a licensing agreement has been signed between the two companies to port the Palword IP to mobile.
The Google translated announcement stated:
Krafton Inc. (CEO Chang-Han Kim) has signed a licensing agreement with Japanese game developer Pocketpair, Inc. for the intellectual property (IP) of ‘Palworld.’
Through this contract, Krafton will expand the Palworld IP to the mobile platform. It plans to faithfully reinterpret and implement the original’s main fun elements to fit the mobile environment. The project will be handled by the development team of ‘PUBG STUDIOS,’ a creative studio under Krafton.
No further information has been released on the PC to mobile port, so we aren’t yet sure if this will be a direct port of the game or if things will be changed to suit the mobile platform. PUBG Studios has been quite successful in running PUBG the game on both PC and mobile, so we shouldn’t be too concerned about Palrowld losing anything important when it gets ported over.
It is likely that the game will be free-to-play with a few in-game purchases, similar to how PUBG Mobile works at the moment, which could drive even more sales to the PC version of the game. Just not inside Japan, where Nintendo reigns supreme and only allows one type of capturable monster.
