Tech Tuesday: NGAGE is That You?

As the weeks drift by from CES, more and more cool tech leaks out onto the internet. While most of it still seems to be an XYZ robot that does some arb task, like boxing, some of the devices are actually pretty cool.

The latest that’s popped onto my feed is the OhSnap MCON Magnetic Controller. A magsafe controller that snaps to the back of your phone and slides out, turning whatever mobile device you’re using into a mobile gaming beast.

The controller features GameSir’s Mag Res Analogue Joysticks, which they claim to be even better than Hall Effect’s, promising no stick drift, premium accuracy, and lower power consumption.

It also packs silent buttons, analogue triggers, and high-quality hardware, making it durable for all those long gaming sessions on the pooper.

Below the controller are also two pop-out grips that users can choose to use for extra grip when they’re in intense sessions, or hide away for a more casual experience.

Since it connects via Bluetooth, it also has the ability to store up to three different, hot-swappable devices, and you can use it in what OhSnap is calling Kickback Mode, which is essentially propping your phone up away from you and using the controller separately.

OhSnap also designed the controller to feature full-size everything, which all neatly fits into the slide-out controller, so when you pocket it, nothing gets damaged. And for devices that don’t feature MagSafe, they sell an extra accessory that’ll sort you out.

Currently, the controller is up for preorder at a neat little $150, and OhSnap is only shipping to the US or Canada, with Europe possibly being a destination in the near future. So, you’re going to need a pilot buddy if you want to grab one.

What do you think of the MCON Magnetic Controller? Are you a mobile gamer who craves the feel of a physical controller, or are touch controls working for you just fine? Let us know in the comments below.
