Could Overwatch Be Coming to Mobile?

Take this with a pinch of salt, as it’s just a piece of information from Jason Schreier, Bllomber Journalists, new book, but it could be possible that Overwatch could be coming to mobile.

Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future Of Blizzard Entertainment is Schreier’s third book, where he interviewed over 300 current and former developers at Blizzard on how the company rose to fandom and then, in a glorious blaze of fire, plummeted to a company that many hate.

The book even documents the company’s mass layoffs, lawsuits – including the Netflix-Blizzard feud that led to a cancelled Overwatch series, and first-hand testimonials about the projects Blizzard was, and perhaps still is, working on.

One sentence in the book reads: “Overwatch was led by Walter Kong, who oversaw the release of regular heroes and content for Overwatch 2, as well as new projects like a mobile version of the franchise.”

While this just shows that Kong and his team had the idea of creating a mobile version of the her-shooter, we’ve had no announcements or inklings from Blizzard that it is something in the works.

After this “leak”, though, we could see something from the Blizzard team pretty soon.

Do you think Overwatch mobile will take off like Call of Duty Mobile has, or should Blizzard just can the whole thing like they did with the PvE campaign for Overwatch? Let us know in the comments below.
