Tech Tuesday: A Tank in Your Trousers

Some of us just love to watch the world burn. Who needs slim design, modern aesthetics, or an aluminium alloy frame?

Well, not anyone who thinks the Unihertz Tank 4 Pro is their ideal phone. That’s who.

The Unihertz Tank 4 Pro is a rugged, rough-and-ready Android phone designed for those who spend more time outdoors than in. It packs an IP69 and MIL-STD-810H rating. Yes, it’s rated similarly to U.S. Military-Grade gadgets for shock, vibration, and environmental extremes.

Alongside some impressive on-paper specs, including 5G capabilities, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, a 6.73-inch AMOLED display, and a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Octa-Core CPU, the Tank 4 Pro also packs a couple of handy on-the-go features that make it a great camping companion.

For starters, it has an 11,600mAh battery, meaning it can go for days without a drop of power, yet also supports 120W charging for quick top-ups when you do come across a plug point. It also has twin 1200 Lumen torches equipped for those darker than dark nights, a tri-lens camera system with night vision support, and a 720p projector for those movie nights inside your tent.

The massive battery allows for almost 6 hours of continuous projection capabilities, so you can almost get through the first Director’s Cut of The Lord of the Rings.

For emergencies, it has red and blue LEDs that can be flashed for others to see, and, if worst comes to worst, it’s half a kilogram of weight that can certainly be used as a weapon, hammer, or some other blunt-force object.
