The Tamagotchi has made a bit of a comeback of late, as people yearn for simpler times when a little plastic egg could cause them severe emotional distress; you can even get one in Call of Duty. So, why not raise Angels with a Neon Genesis Evangelion-themed one?
Ignore, for now, the fact that the Angels are the very, very, bad guys in Evangelion, because monstrous space beings, hell-bent on obliterating humanity (for biblical reasons?), need love too. What do they eat? Who knows, probably your soul. Also, they require battle training, so you better do your best to make your little Angel the best apocalyptic behemoth it can be. No judgement if you find satisfaction in watching it suffer and die – you do you.
There are three Eva x Tamagotchi egg styles, based on the colouration of the three main Evas from the anime, and 20 Angel variations to choose from.
The virtual apocalyptic pets are currently only on preorder in Japan, but they could make it to other markets, given the popularity of Neon Genesis Evangelion. If you’ve never seen the iconic anime, you can find the whole series, including the movies that fix everything that made no sense, on Netflix.
